Is it really possible to obligate time only within the realm of that particular time? Does not it carry with it the load of the bygone time? “ Natoker Moto” (Like a Play), standing at today’s time, dives deep to find the bygone time that encompasses the contemporary time. The film, through the life and death of an actress, tries its hand at exploring the angst, compassion, emotion, envy, conflict, dejection, happiness that dribble down the brim of today’s time. The film tries to conjure up the multifaceted truths of life and thus in return prevents man’s yearning for artistic production from getting blurred by the ominous, dark clouds of time.  The characterisation of "Kheya Chakraborty" is an epitome of all those who act, draw, write and have devoted themselves solely to the art of art-making. Everything prime to an artist is showcased through this one life: a life that comprises family, ménage and the yearning for the art of art-making to which, starting from Binodini Dasi, "Kheya Chakrabarty" to the contemporary artists fell captive at. "Natoker Moto"(Like a Play) collects all the fragments of memories of this unfathomable love for the art of art-making, which would apparently appear nothing but a mere gust of emotion, and magnificently makes a garland with all the collected fragments of memories. Nevertheless, in the end, the shattering of this garland can not be halted, fragmented memories and desires fall apart, just like death, which is inevitable. After all, we all have the dormant craving to repeat after Antigone-

“I spit on your happiness! I spit on your idea of life-that life that must go on, come what may. You are all like dogs that lick everything they smell. You with your promise of a humdrum happiness-provided a person doesn’t ask too much of life. I want everything of life, I do; and I want it now! I want it total, complete: otherwise I reject it!”
